Why Indian students choose New Zealand
New Zealand is the under-rated study destination — all 8 universities rank globally, the Post-Study Work Visa runs up to 3 years, and the Skilled Migrant Category gives a clear PR pathway. Lower tuition than Australia, far safer than most US cities, and breathtaking landscapes outside the classroom.
For students who want quality without the chaos of larger markets, NZ delivers.
All 8 unis QS-ranked
Every New Zealand university sits within the QS top 500 globally — an outcome no other country can match at this scale.
3-year Post-Study Work
Complete a Level 7+ degree and you get an open Post-Study Work Visa for up to 3 years — no sponsorship needed.
Skilled Migrant PR pathway
Gain NZ work experience after graduation, then apply for residence through the Skilled Migrant Category. Clear, points-based, transparent.
Lower cost than Australia
Tuition is typically 20–30% lower than Australia for comparable programs, and living costs are similar or lower outside Auckland.
One of the world's safest
NZ ranks among the top 5 most peaceful countries every year. Friendly, English-speaking, multicultural, and very low crime.
Welcoming Indian community
Active Indian community in Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, and Christchurch. Temples, restaurants, and Indian groceries everywhere.

What studying in New Zealand actually costs
Realistic figures for an Indian student. Auckland is the priciest city; Dunedin, Hamilton, and Palmerston North are notably cheaper. Conversion at ₹49–52/NZD.
