Step by Step

Your Australia study visa journey

From first consultation to landing in Australia — here's exactly how the process works with ESM.

1

Profile & shortlist

We assess your academics, budget, and migration goals, then shortlist 6–8 CRICOS-registered universities and courses that fit best.

2

Application & SOP

We help craft your Statement of Purpose and Genuine Student narrative, gather references, and submit applications directly to universities.

3

Offer & CoE

Accept your offer and pay the deposit. The university issues your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) — the key document for your Subclass 500 visa.

4

OSHC & financials

We arrange your OSHC (Overseas Student Health Cover), prepare A$29,710 financial proof, and structure loan documents for DHA approval.

5

Subclass 500 application

We submit your Student Visa via ImmiAccount, book biometrics and health exam. Most low-risk Indian applications are decided in 4–6 weeks.

6

Pre-departure

Visa approved! We brief you on accommodation, banking (CommBank/ANZ student accounts), SIM, travel, and connect you with ESM students in your city.

Documents

What you'll need for a Subclass 500 student visa

The core documents every Indian applicant must prepare. We check each one before submission.

CoE (Confirmation of Enrolment)

Issued by your Australian university or college after you accept your offer and pay the deposit.

Genuine Student statement

The GS replaced GTE in March 2024. A clear, evidenced statement covering your study plan, ties to India, and reasons for choosing Australia.

Financial proof

A$29,710 for living costs (12 months) plus first-year tuition. Education loan sanction letters from approved Indian banks are accepted.

IELTS / English test

Most courses need IELTS 6.0–6.5 overall (some healthcare/teaching need 7.0). PTE Academic and TOEFL are also accepted.

OSHC health cover

Overseas Student Health Cover is mandatory for the entire duration of your visa. We arrange a compliant policy with Bupa, Medibank, or Allianz.

Academic + SOP

10th, 12th, and Bachelor's transcripts (for PG), plus a Statement of Purpose tailored to your chosen Australian program.

FAQs

Australia study visa questions answered

How long does a Subclass 500 student visa take to process?
For low-risk Indian applicants applying to reputable universities, decisions typically come in 4–6 weeks. Higher-risk profiles or weaker GS evidence can take 2–4 months. Apply at least 2 months before your course start date to be safe.
Can I work while studying in Australia?
Yes. You can work up to 48 hours per fortnight during term time and unlimited hours during scheduled course breaks. Part-time wages in Australia are typically A$25–30/hour — one of the highest among study destinations.
What is the 485 Temporary Graduate visa?
An open work visa for international graduates. Stay lengths: 2 years for Bachelor's and coursework Master's, 3 years for research Master's, 4 years for PhD. No job offer or sponsorship needed. It is the bridge between study and the skilled migration PR pathway.
What is the Genuine Student requirement?
The Genuine Student (GS) requirement replaced the GTE rule in March 2024. You must explain your study plan, ties to India, and reasons for choosing Australia in a clear written statement supported by evidence (academics, financials, family). We help you build a strong GS statement.
How much money do I need to show for an Australia visa?
A$29,710 for living costs (12 months, set by DHA from May 2024) plus first-year tuition. Funds should ideally be held for 3–6 months. Education loan sanction letters from approved Indian banks are accepted as financial proof.
Can I get PR from an Australia student visa?
Yes, through Australia's skilled migration system. After your degree, your 485 visa gives you 2–4 years to gain Australian work experience. You then apply for a Subclass 189 (independent), 190 (state-nominated), or 491 (regional) skilled visa, leading to PR within 3–4 years of finishing.
What are the Australia intakes?
February is the main intake with the widest course choice. July is a strong secondary intake. A small November intake exists at some universities and pathway providers. We recommend starting your application 8–12 months before your target intake.
How does ESM help with Australia applications?
We handle the full journey: university shortlisting, SOP and Genuine Student statement, applications, CoE coordination, OSHC, financial documentation, Subclass 500 application via ImmiAccount, biometrics and health checks, and pre-departure briefing. Our Australia visa success rate is 98%. First consultation is free.
